Sycamore67 Posted March 17, 2017 Report Posted March 17, 2017 (edited) Excellent work...love the shaping of the parts to make it stand out so well. Would really appreciate to hear how you shaped the parts and what tools you used. It appears that much of it was hand sanding and shaping. Edited March 17, 2017 by Sycamore67 Quote
Bpardue Posted March 20, 2017 Author Report Posted March 20, 2017 Sycamore67, I get the depth by either using various thickness of woods or by raising & lower the woods with shims. Once I am happy with the depth of the piece, I start shaping pieces that ate farther away form me working towards me. I never start shaping until all the cutting is complete and I can see the entire piece. I use a flexible drum sander with 80grit to remove wood quickly than move to 120grit. for small detail shaping i use a Dremel with various sanding drums and other attachments. Once the shaping work is done; its a quick hand sand to fine tune any detail i don't like. This piece has woods that are from a 1/2" thick (wing body) to 1 1/2" thick (nose area - 1" wood with 2 quarter inch shims) Quote
