Last week I had heard about an event coming up on May 13 an hour away from me.  I found the information online but realized I'd missed the application deadline by a week.  I emailed them anyway with the application asking if they had any spaces left.  I didn't hear back, so I called the following day and the guy said no, they weren't taking any more applications.  I told him I understood and thanks, I'd sign up next year.

Well, an hour ago I got an email from the organizers saying "Hello Vendors..." talking about sending out booth location information, etc soon.  So now I'm wondering if I did sneak in or if they simply snagged my email address by accident.  I guess I'll find out in a couple of days.  LOL  Never a dull moment in Iggyland.

Wow Iggy, sounds like when it rains it pours for you. ;)  More cutting needed if you add this one!   I think I would be reaching out to them ASAP to see if I was "in" or not.  Good luck with it all - hope they all go well for you.

I'm very much on the fence as to whether I want to find out if I'm in or out because I have so much cutting to do... I'll just wait and keep it as a surprise.

Whew - braver then me - I wouldn't want that "surprise" - especially if I was IN.

I envy you as being able to do 2 shows in such a short time . There isn't enough saw time for me I can only saw for 4 or 5 hours at a time. then my back begins to bother me, I did 4 hours today and my back is tired I wish you a good sale.

Hi Ike,

I went into last Saturday's event with 400 puzzles and sold almost 100 and I have til May 20th for my next big scheduled event, so I'm in pretty good shape to restock... but yes, if this new event materializes on May 13 I'll be hard pressed to be fully prepared for May 20th.

I work full time (from home) and I have established a routine of cutting 5 puzzles a day, 7 days a week and it's just right for me.  Right around 2 hours of saw time per day.

After May 20 I only have my weekly farmers market which I average selling 26 per Saturday... I'll be glad for the slow period.  ;-)

The Mrs. and I have been down this road many times. She does our booking while I do the cutting. Cindy helps with finishing, staining and sealing. It's a nice place to be in at times. Others it is over whelming to say the least. If you can keep your inventory and do the show, great. Adding a few extra hours to " make up " is a good thing. Just keep in mind your health and life support system. Keep us posted please.

It sounds like you have a great setup Wayne, very nice.  I'm still very much enjoying my hobby and I'll be careful about letting it overwhelm me.  I'm still so new at this (not even a year yet!) and am learning on the fly how to juggle everything.  By Christmas last year I was ready for a break.  I'm in a nice rhythm right now and won't let it become a burden.  That's the last thing I want from what is supposed to be a fun hobby. As long as I'm not cutting until midnight on a Tuesday night, I think I'll be OK.  :-)  Thanks for the reminder to keep things within reason.

Wow, you should write a book "How to market yourself at craft shows". If this keeps up you will need extra cutters and someone to count your money, I am available for the counting, good luck, RJ

I may have an interesting story or two to tell in a couple of days... I'm waiting on phone calls from 2 different organizations that saw my stuff... One of which I wasn't even there, I had friends displaying some of my puzzles this past Saturday at an event I couldn't attend because I was at the mega event out of town.

Well... I'm in. Saturday May 13 the Carolina Strawberry Festival, 100 vendors strong.  I figured when I hadn't received a confirmation email by yesterday that they realized their error and had dropped me from the real vendor list.  But lo and behold I wake up this morning to an email with my vendor pass in it.  Too funny.  Well now I have to really get some cutting done now that I have an extra show to do and I have a big one coming up the following Saturday.

You'll find Iggy in booth 308.  http://nebula.wsimg.com/441c3b1d4352a9648eac19a3b4a014ef?AccessKeyId=188B66AF66E7F801F0F1&disposition=0&alloworigin=1

Your going to have to hire help. Maybe you could hire BDO to solve your problems.

I just told my wife about the surprise event and she asked "Are you going to do it? You were just talking yesterday about being worried about being stocked up in time for the event on the 20th???!!!"

I'll figure it out.  :-)
