Vector01 Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 There's nothing more dangerous than boredom and a dremel tool I picked up a flex shaft for the dremel last week and thought I'd give it a try. Having nothing particular in mind and eating some chinese takeout, what better project than a pair of chopsticks I cut a couple of pieces of madrone and went for it. I decided to try my own design. After completion I was stuck with a pair of chopsticks Researching some background on chopsticks I discovered it was bad etiquette to lay them on the table during a meal (along with other no no's). So I needed to come up with some type of holder for them. I checked the net for some ideas and basically they were nothing more than small ceramic or wooden dishes. Some with designs some just plain Since I'm not going to eat with them I thought a nice display was in order. Going to the PC and firing up Inkscape I came up with this design. Now the hard part is figuring what color stains to use on the various parts. I might try burning some design into the chopsticks. I thinking of keeping the chopsticks natural with some neutral stain. The chinese symbols (chopstick) in the middle of the circle or gong will be inlaid with turquoise. I will hang it in the middle of the arch with some small chain when done. Quote
Chief Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 If you researched chopstick etiquette and came up with that design, well you have too much time on your hands. The design is cool and the way they have their little "alter" is definitely original. Looks really nice. Quote
