JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 If you were to enter an upscale show and a questioner is submitted how would you answer??? How do you describe your work??? How do you describe yourself??? Do you consider yourself a unique artist?? What value will you bring to the show??? Quote
Iguanadon Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 Pretend it's an application for a job and fluff up your resume. Speak highly of yourself and your work and what you will add to the event. "I bring years of experience as I've worked hard at my craft to make the most pleasing items for potential customers. My work is not seen widely and the attendees of the event will appreciate seeing new and fresh items. As can see from the pictures I've provided my quality and craftsmanship is second to none." etc, etc, etc. Lucky2, wombatie and CATRK 3 Quote
hawkeye10 Posted June 25, 2017 Report Posted June 25, 2017 John what about the entry fee? It could be so high that you may need to skip this one. Jim Finn 1 Quote
WayneMahler Posted June 25, 2017 Report Posted June 25, 2017 Interesting question. The wife and I have done many different juried shows. We always keep things simple and submit a couple of photos. Quote
NC Scroller Posted June 25, 2017 Report Posted June 25, 2017 (edited) First question to ask yourself is what will you be selling. Assuming by your handle they are "hand crafted clocks". Iggy would say "hand crafted wooden puzzles". Someone offering fretwork and or intarsia would say "hand crafted wooden art". Edited June 25, 2017 by NC Scroller Quote
zimmerstutzen Posted June 26, 2017 Report Posted June 26, 2017 Pictures are worth lots. Been thinking about a juried show. They require photos, they prefer that you demonstrate your "craft" during the show. They are very upfront in the application to tell prospective show folks that they are looking for unique, quality work. There are a couple of scrollers already there and two folks using wood lathes turning out Holiday decorations. Frankly the one turner sells lots of decorations but they are rather inferior considering the price. He does turn them out fast, but they often have nicks and tear outs. Quote
