Copying from a photograph

Hi Folks,

 

I apologise if it has been asked before.

 

How do you copy a photograph onto wood. I have a few Disney photos that I would like to copy onto wood.

 

Do you need to use a programme like corel draw or inkscape.

hi glassweigen,a quick fast easy way to copy things and in plus or minus scale for me has been the "rapid resizer"I think i payed 60 and downloaded it.It's by far the greatest tool i have.You can adjust it to copy to your specs.In metric or american.My friend sent me a picture from thialand and the picture was tiny but i entered the size i wanted and it poped out perfect.If you want something longer but not taller no problem.Instead of doing projects 8" by 10" i can now do things 15" by 15" 20 by 20 30 by 30 what ever i like.You will love the ease of you'se.You can try it for free also for 30 days. put you photos in the scanner and go to rapid resizer and press scan ,it's all down hill from there!

what I was meaning was taken a photograph and making a pattern out of it on wood.

To make a scroll saw pattern from a photograph, you'll need an image manipulation program like Photoshop or GIMP. GIMP is free, which is what many folks use. You can find a class on how to use GIMP to create portrait patterns for the scroll saw here.

That is what I was meaning. Sorry for not being clearer.

 

Will need to have a closer look at GIMP.

Gimp and the tutorials that Travis has produced is a good way to go. Took me a little time to get used to it but now comes as second nature.
