  1. Hi Marg, Openoffice is free software, check out on google
  2. You may be able to run them in compatability mode. If you dont know how to do this click on start button an use help and suport .
  3. Take along some examples of your work to show what can be done on the saw. Might be an idea to take along some give aways for kids,small simple animals or the like. HTH
  4. I use the clear tape as I find small delicate sections are less likely to lift
  5. Masking tape (painters tape?) on the wood, spray adhesive on back of pattern and stick to masking tape, then clear packing tape over the top.

  7. I would just use bees wax well buffed up when dry.

Your saw is almost identical to my SIP which I modified to a quick change by using an indexing lever of the appropriate size as here. http://www.wdsltd.co.uk/products/Machin ... ert--1607/ Also take off the clamp and clean off any roughness left on the underside from when the slot was machined, I used a needle file. Run some abrasive paper through the slot to clean out any swarf or lubricant left by machining. When you put the blade in the clamp keep it as close to the front as possible and the lever only needs to be finger tight HTH

  14. Hi Malc Just cut on the waste side of your pattern then finish using any kind of files or sanders you might have. You can glue some sandpaper to an old scrollsaw blade to turn your scrollsaw into a very effective sander,

  18. Gimp and the tutorials that Travis has produced is a good way to go. Took me a little time to get used to it but now comes as second nature.
  19. I lock down the lever then turn down the knob and lever using finger and thumb, there is a definate point I can feel when the correct tension is reached.

  21. I use a re-positional spray (JELT JELT'TACK) only sprayed on the back of the pattern.After the pattern is applied I cover it with clear 2" packing tape.

  24. I changed the Allen bolt on the top clamp on my SIP for an indexable lever made a huge difference
  25. Hi marg, It is possible to cut copper on the scroll saw, I have just cut some and enamelled it. Pics to follow of finished items) there are also some patterns in the gallery
