Port City RibFest is moving from the big city nearby (Wilmington), to my little beach town (Carolina Beach) this year.  This is their 5th annual.  Big shindig, BBQ festival, music, vendors, etc, etc.  https://www.portcityribfest.net/

It was just approved by the town council a couple of weeks ago and is being held November 10, 11, 12.  Big 3 days.  I glanced at their site and started looking at their information pertaining to being a vendor.  Expensive... $250 for the 3 days.  But I literally live 4 blocks from the venue so Mrs. Iggy and I discussed it and figured "Why not?"  Give it a try.

Then we looked at the layout map and had concerns about the main vendor area at the bottom.  It's kind of "away" from the food with the music stage in between.  Then I noticed that booths 3 and 4 had not been rented yet in the main food area... So I emailed the coordinator of the event and asked him if either of those spaces was still available I'd like one, otherwise I wouldn't sign up.  He responded to me and said he'd hold one of them for me if I got my application and check to him right away.  I dropped a check in the mail today.

So... It's risky in that this is the first year it's being held here, but in years past they've had 10,000-12,000 people attend and it's been very successful.  And risky that I'll be a crafts vendor in the midst of a bunch of rib eating drunks.  LOL  But, I've already called Harvey Byler and asked him for 4 custom puzzles... Pig saying RIBFEST and another saying BBQ, and a Cow saying the same things.  Oh, and while I was ordering, I asked him for a Pig that says BACON.  That one is for me.  :-) But I also think a number of folks will enjoy it.... everyone loves bacon.

I have Mrs. Iggy working her magic with the new name plate patterns, making one for each of the BBQ vendors that I'll ask them to place on the shelf where people place their orders.

Not many vendors have signed up yet, and that was another reason I didn't want to be in that big area at the bottom... what if there are only 10 or 12 vendors... it would be horrible.  At least where I'll be I'm guaranteed all the foot traffic.  Sell 10 puzzles and I break even.  No worries there, just wondering if I'll hit 75-100 puzzles as I'd expect to for 3 days of sales.  I may even put a small Christmas tree up at the outside corner of my tent to remind folks that Christmas is just around the corner.

P.S. The boardwalk and the ocean are just feet away to the right on that map.

Cross your fingers

Maybe you should make a few of the small animal ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree?? Ornaments is where I actually make my money from.. Clocks and other things just help fill the gap between Christmas in July and Christmas, LOL Price them around $15 each or two for 20 LOL stack cut 3-6 at a shot depending on how thick of material you use..

Good thought Kevin.  I haven't tried making the ornaments yet.  I guess now would be a good time.  If I have time to tackle it between now and the Ribfest, I'll do it.  I'm pretty booked up though.  Maybe a rainout or two will allow me the time to pump some out.

Dang, it you weren't on the other side of the world, I'd love to come and eat ribs with you. I hope that I can get good enough at making something and entering a happening here. They have many throughout the year. Seal Beach is right up the road from me and they have a couple of "art" fests and I have seen many vendors that do stuff at home. Good luck with your event. I hope it turns out to be a winner and you can do it every year.
