I don't know if it's been asked of everybody, but what scroll saw do you use?My newest is a c-arm sears 20".It's the slowest and the fastest and the least vibration of 8 diferant saws i've wore out.It' looks like it's going to be a keeper an has a lot less parts to wear out.Now thats what i've been looking for.Found it on craigs list for $100.Right away i modified it to accept the quick change blade holder from an old delta ss250 i saved parts from .So for i'm in love with it and thats a good thing. It's got tapperd 2" needle bearings in the back (2) and they are huge,no wear out there. The motor is a d.c. and does not bog at all.Whenm you turn it on you can here the rapid torque get up to speed now!post-2756-134955540527_thumb.jpgpost-2756-13495554059_thumb.jpg

I use a Sakura 20" . Modified it with a up front tension release and quick change blade holder of my own design. I also added a small, about 3" disc sander, to the spindle shaft for touching up small parts. With all these modifications I'm set.

I inherited an RBI 220vs ,excellent condition thats for sale, cheep.

I have one of the original RBI 220vs saws. I purchased it in the early to mid 1990s. Due to the company that I worked for getting purchased 3 times from the mid 90's until I retired in 2005, I did not put a lot of miles on the saw. Plus I had the Hawk folks due a rehab on beams, bearings and bushings. I would not take any price for 20" RBI Hawk.

thats the same as mine maybe ,the contractor 20" mine weighs 95.5 pounds. It isso sweet with 1/4 "needle bearings (2 of them) on the back of the c-arm ,so no side to side wobble and long time lasting .I took apart and cleaned and lubed with chain lube. The counter weightand connecting rod from the motor to the bottom arm are also needle bearings 1/4" except for right on the motor . They really made this baby to last , Could be my last saw .And so quite too and passes the nickle test easy.glad to see you have one to. :)

I have an 18" WMS Scroll Saw, which is basically a Taiwanese version of the Hegner, but at a fraction of its price. Most of the parts are the same so they are inter-changeable. Only change I have made to it is to use the Hegner thumb screw blade holders. I cannot fault this machine, been working very well for me and im very happy with its performance.

Hey brett ,Thats a nice looking never seen machine of your .I like the big table to cut on and the giant air pump like the hegner.i've been contemplateing using a sink plunger under my saws arm to pump large amounts of air.Should'nt take to much mods to make a better mouse trap there. How much is that saw ,was it shipped in. :)

Some of the members in the scroll saw club im in have Delta machines and some use a tennis ball under the lower arm to pump air through a hose, the motion of the arm causes the ball to squeeze and pump air through (you need a second hole for the air to come in) whilst others use an aquarium pump to create air flow. I used to use the aquarium pump for my old Delta, but I have no need to do so with this saw as the bellows is very adequate.

I paid about AUS$500 for the saw and I got it locally in Australia so it wasnt needed to be shipped, I got it from a scroll saw weekend that I attend each year that has a scroll saw supplier in attendance selling blades, books etc.

Scroll Sawing isnt as big in Australia as it is in America/Canada/UK yet so its hard finding local supplies, luckily with the Internet and good Aussie dollar at the moment we can order in things from Overseas, but with our different power to the US we cannot order in saws. Buying saws here can be hard too, we have limited options available to us, you can either pay out lots for a Hegner saw or the only other options are they cheap saws which are usually best to avoid. There is not much or no midrange price saws, we once were able to buy Dewalt saws but they saw it as not economically viable so they stopped shipping saws to Australia. I was lucky to get this WMS saw and I dont think they are shipping these out anymore either.
