spirithorse Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 (edited) Great work, Lee! I have always liked that pattern and have cut and sold quite a few of them. I also donated one to a local Eagles lodge. There are two sizes of this same pattern. I did the largest one more frequently than the small one. Thanks for sharing your work and God Bless! rhw Posted December 9, 2018 Report Posted December 9, 2018 Beautiful eagle! I'm making the same pattern as a Christmas gift. The plans calls for a dowel for the eye but it doesn't look like you did that. Can you share how you crafted the eagle's eye? Quote

Although I will use dowels on certain projects, (small birds and fish) I try to cut them out from base wood of the color needed. Takes a bit of practice and a slower speed on the saw, along with a smaller blade. I usually use a #1 blade to cut something so small, and I put a zero clearance plate on the saw so I don't lose the piece. Occasionally I will cut it all from the same white piece, and then wood burn the pupil to give it darkness, or I will color it with a black sharpie marker. Everything depends on the piece, and the size of it. don watson and GrampaJim 2 Quote

flarud Posted December 14, 2018 Report Posted December 14, 2018 Wow, super nice! I keep wanting to try Intarsia, I keep chickening out. I love Eagle's, got one on my arm with a flag around it and several statues from 3" tall to over 4' tall around the house. Quote
Fran L Posted December 14, 2018 Report Posted December 14, 2018 That looks fantastic. I am partial to eagle displays and love this one. Quote
