kmmcrafts Posted October 17, 2017 Report Posted October 17, 2017 Since we now have this new business topic here.. and we've had quite a few business related topics recently I thought I'd start a bookkeeping topic.. So what do you all use to keep track of.. not only your sales.. but also expenses etc? Do you make out a spread sheet, use a computer program, old fashion file folders for invoices and receipts, or something different? Myself, I use a free online software that integrates with my etsy shop and also my Paypal account.. or manually enter things in.. upload photos of your receipts deduct taxes add use taxes etc etc etc.. I believe you can do much more with it that my little use of it.. It works really well for me because 80-90% of my sales are online.. so integrating with my accounts automatically enters the sales of items.. At the end of the year I and or monthly I can print off statements for my accountant rather than taking stacks of receipts in and having to go through it all.. I also keep several back-up copies of my scanned in receipts ect.. just in case of a crashing site or computer.. Has a graph to show your different expenses and where your money went if it's not in your pocket, LOL The site is called Waveapps.com Real nice for online sellers.. maybe not so much for in person sellers because you'd probably have to manually enter everything.. Anyway, just thought it might be interesting to see what others do.. Quote
JimErn Posted October 17, 2017 Report Posted October 17, 2017 I use QuickBooks, which is overkill for this kind of operation, but I have it for other businesses so why not use it. I am real active answering questions in the Intuit community help site, and I am an Intuit beta tester, so if anyone has questions about QB or small business accounting I enjoy helping, feel free to ask. Besides I figure that gets me some good karma, and I kind of need it,. Jim kmmcrafts 1 Quote
Denny Knappen Posted October 17, 2017 Report Posted October 17, 2017 We also use QuickBooks. But as Jim mentioned, we use it at our store, ArtCrafters. kmmcrafts 1 Quote
orangeman Posted October 17, 2017 Report Posted October 17, 2017 I use an old fashioned sheet of accounting paper and record sales and expenses by category every month. Then come tax time I add everything up plus the mileage that I keep in a log book. bb kmmcrafts 1 Quote
orangeman Posted October 17, 2017 Report Posted October 17, 2017 How do you get so many sales online? If I'm lucky I might break even from online sales! bb Quote
