tgiro Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 From the other side of my shop - I finished this over the weekend. The bowl is Black Walnut with a Deco ring made from maple, Padauc and PurpleHeart. The base has a floating disc. Build time on the Deco ring was about 10 hours (not including glue-set time). Then it sat on the bench for about two months while I decided in what kind of bowl to put it. jollyred, Phantom Scroller, Lucky2 and 4 others 7 Quote
Scrappile Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 That is beautiful.. I can appreciate the segmented turning. A friend of mine is a segmented turner. He has showed me how he accomplishes some of it. WOW, it is all complicated and amazing. And he wants to do one this winter, with me, where somehow we include some of my scrolling.. It is really going to be a great challenge. Very nice bowl. Great work! heppnerguy 1 Quote
wedo scroll Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 I really enjoy turning, however I have never tried segmented pieces. Maybe someday, too many other things to capture my interest. Love your work, keep showing it! Quote

Lucky2 Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 Tony, that is an amazing bowl, definitely one to be proud of. The segmentation work is outstanding, and you choice of bowl to put it on is perfect. Len Quote
meflick Posted November 2, 2017 Report Posted November 2, 2017 Beautiful piece you have crafted Tony. Thanks for sharing. Quote
Woodmaster1 Posted November 6, 2017 Report Posted November 6, 2017 (edited) Great design I think that the planning is almost as much fun as turning. I know the turning takes less time than the work before turning. You should give open segment turning a try it is just as much fun. Edited November 6, 2017 by Woodmaster1 heppnerguy 1 Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted November 6, 2017 Report Posted November 6, 2017 beautiful bowl !....Excellent work ! Quote
heppnerguy Posted November 10, 2017 Report Posted November 10, 2017 Sometimes when I see something like these beautiful bowls and vases, I often wish that I would have given those a try a one time or another. Now I have all I can handle, as i continue to get older, but I still enjoy looking at them and admiring the work of others. Absolutely wonderful Dick heppnerguy Quote
