Dan Posted November 24, 2017 Report Posted November 24, 2017 A few days ago Paul, aka Scrappile, said, "We all wonder off the line now and then. Just go back to the line gradually as possible so there are no abrupt wavers." As he was talking about scrolling I realized that what he said applies to most things in life. When driving, if you begin to drift, a small correction will bring you back to the center of your lane. If, after the big turkey dinner, I may put on a few pounds, gradually adjusting my diet will bring me back to my idea weight. If we don't make these gradual adjustments we will end up in a terrible situation where we will have to jerk the wheel or take medication for conditions that we could have prevented. Or, in either situation, it could be worse. Every once in a while God provides us with some wisdom through a network of friends. Thanks Paul. wombatie, WayneMahler, Lucky2 and 4 others 7 Quote

Sparkey Posted November 25, 2017 Report Posted November 25, 2017 Great post Dan. To add to it for those that might not know, eating low carb will bring your blood pressure down. I have been on blood pressure meds for around 17 years. Six months ago my wife and I decided to make a life change and eat healthier. We stopped eating bread, pasta, potatoes and anything else high in carbs. My blood pressure was getting low so I went to the doctor. She asked me what I was doing different and I told her eating low carb. She said low carbs will make your blood pressure go down. My first thought was that would have been nice to know 17 years ago when they put me on the medicine. To make a long story short my wife and I each lost 32 pounds. We are feeling much better and are prepared to make it a life long goal. meflick, Karl S and bobscroll 3 Quote

tonylumps Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 (edited) I am sorry .I am Italian .I will not give up my Pasta And Italian bread. Have a major operation coming up after Chrismas.Asked if I should eat certain foods .He said no ,just a lengthen your walks and bike riding. So if you eat Carbs ,burn them. You will feel a lot better than restricting your diet and then looking at the TV.Eat in moderation and exercise When I was in my 60'S I did 2 55 mile Bike Marathons on pasta and plenty of water . PS Scrollsawing is not exercising. Edited December 6, 2017 by tonylumps Quote
Dan Posted December 6, 2017 Author Report Posted December 6, 2017 Hmm, Tony, remove the motor from you scroll saw and mount it to your bike. Then you will be able to say scrolling is good exercise. Quote
