dansnow Posted December 26, 2017 Report Posted December 26, 2017 I may have asked this here before, if so I apologize. About 4 years ago I made this pull toy from plans I can no longer find. As the cart wheels turn the couple bob up and down. If any one has an idea where these plans are from and where I might find them I would be very grateful. Regards, Dan Quote
dansnow Posted December 27, 2017 Author Report Posted December 27, 2017 Thanks, I've built several of Udi's designs the last few years. This particular pattern was a pull out from a magazine, but unfortunately I don't remember the title or issue it came from. Quote

Did the axle have cams on it that bumped the passengers up and down, or were they attached to the axle and it was bent? Russell Quote
dansnow Posted December 28, 2017 Author Report Posted December 28, 2017 Yup, don't have it any more, and I was asked if I could make another. There were cams on the axle to move the figures. Quote

There were cams on the axle to move the figures. I remember when you posted this request some time ago. I really wanted to take a shot at it, but thought then, and still feel it would be wrong to copy someones pattern, but it is an interesting project for sure. This is nowhere near ready to cut, just my idea on how it would all work. I'm sure you remember exactly how it goes, but this is just how i would do it. The first pieces i would make are the people, everything else would be scaled to fit them. Once they are cut, the cart shafts can be made to accept the shafts coming out of their butts. If those are cut a little long, they can be adjusted to fit the wheel/axle/cam. Once those are all working correctly, the sides of the cart can be made to the correct size to accept the wheel/axle assembly. I would also cut the cart shafts long, then make the horse the correct size and cut the cart shafts to fit. IDK if any of that is making sense, but maybe this drawing will help explain it a little more. None of this is to scale, i didn't do the math at all, it is just a concept. Maybe it will help, maybe not. You can PM me if you don't understand something, or need anything explained. Hope it helps a little. Russell Quote
