Sycamore67 Posted January 3, 2018 Report Posted January 3, 2018 (edited) Sorry you had another bad experience with a doctor. What did you tell the doctor first? We all recognize your total dislike of doctors based on your previous comments. You have the worst luck with doctors as you have told us that all of them are terrible. I have suffered with chronic severe pain for a long time and my pain management doctor is great. He has worked with me and has been able to reduce my pain and help me deal with it. I think Kevin will have a problem with most doctors and that is sad for him. Going to the doctor in my experience is a two way conversation. One has to work with the doctor and with his experiences that he has posted this is difficult. With a pain management doctor it is especially important to have the discussion about what hurts, when how much etc so the doctor can figure things out. Pain management doctors have other problems because some of the people they see are seeking drugs and they need to figure out if this is the case. Edited January 3, 2018 by Sycamore67 Lucky2 1 Quote

My records show all the x-rays,mri's,ultra sounds, heart charts, lung tests ,kidney tests they didn't miss a thing.Makes no sense to me how you can just throw me to the wolves because the president stopped Oxycontin because so many people were dying from them.the vast majority of opiate deaths are from illegal drugs, smoking cigarettes kills 480,000 Alcohol about88,000 mostly young people and drug overdoses 64.000 per year.somethings not right here. All these are per year. My urinary doctor,Not my gp doctor ripped out my catheter with out deflating it is another recent story .You tell me how that feels .When it was all said an done i asked him if it was a boy or a girl.I spoke to other doctors and company's that use these and make these and none have ever heard of this happening. The scar i had in my urinary track behind my groin is now I'm sure the whole length of my urinary track thanks to this malpractice. The bulb at the end of the catheter is the size of a quarter. My underwear was full red for 3 days and no pain pills from him even though i asked.i sat in the waiting room till closing in a daze.then the same thing in my car ,very traumatic experience.I made lots of names for free here of the employees and their kids and i get treated like this. WayneMahler Posted January 4, 2018 Report Posted January 4, 2018 Kevin I have no idea how to answer this. Maybe look into another Dr or possibly a lawyer ? My prayers are with you ! Quote
Lucky2 Posted January 4, 2018 Report Posted January 4, 2018 That's not all that uncommon of an answer, I have gotten the same one from many many professionals. Over the last eighteen years, I've suffered unreal pain throughout my body. I've been on most all of the pain meds there is, and for the last year and a half, I've been on prescribed marijuana. It does not take the pain away, nothing does. But it does change the way you feel and think, it is a bit of a change from the pain. And that is so nice after not having a day without severe pain for over eighteen years. The pain is so great, that my mind is constantly thinking about suicide as an option. Every minute of every day, suicide is on my mind because of the pain. But because I know it is not an option, I have not acted on what I've been thinking. So, when you mention what you've been told, it sure brings back memories to me. Memories of being told, to learn to live with the pain. I've heard that from eleven different specialists and doctors so far, if they can't figure out the problem, that's their response. Learn to live with it. I've asked five of them, what the hell they think I've been doing. So I'm used to what you got for a solution for your issues, it's a very common response when they don't know how to help. Len Quote
Sycamore67 Posted January 4, 2018 Report Posted January 4, 2018 Kevin.....the president did not not stop the drug you mentioned. It is still available but expensive. Quote
Sycamore67 Posted January 4, 2018 Report Posted January 4, 2018 It is sad to read about others who face chronic pain issues. It is even worse hearing about people's bad experience with doctors. I must be the luckiest person as my pain management doctor is great and I have been seeing him for almost 20 years. He has been great and helpful. I understand that normally there is no way a doctor will get rid of all pain.....a 50% reduction is considered good. I also got an implanted spinal cord stimulator a year ago and it has helped. The other issue is of insurance coverage and who they will let you see, what procedures that are allowed and what meds are allowed. One great thing is that scroll saw allows me to work in my shop most of the time. Quote

And so would my doctor, he has done everything he can think of. And he has sent me to see everyone I asked him to, but I've had no luck finding anyone who could help. I've been all over the placed, I live on the east coast but have been as far away as Toronto Ontario trying to find some relief. They are all willing to medicate me, but the level it takes causes me to not be able to function. To lower my level of pain, they have to knock me out. That is the only time I don't have pain, when I'm sleeping due to meds. It's a great life!!!!!!! Len Quote

Lucky2 Posted January 6, 2018 Report Posted January 6, 2018 21 hours ago, kywoodmaster said: Len Are you smoking or using edibles? Sometimes changing up the delivery method will help. Hello Larry, I tried it in many different forms, I've smoked and vaporized it, and still do, I've used the oil to cook with and still do, and I've taken it in pill form and still do. The way I ingest it, depends a lot on what I have to do that day. Seeing as how I don't want to get in trouble with the police, I don't smoke or vaporize it until later on in the day. Ingesting it by smoking or vaporizing it, has the best effects. But using it that way, makes it so that I would be charged with being impaired if caught driving. But, taking it in pill form, doesn't have the same effects. It doesn't work as well either, but it still does work. Over the years, and with the help of a lot of doctors, the pain level is about a 5 out of 10 with ten being unbearable. I can live with the pain being at that level, it's not much of a life though. I have been very fortunate though, I never got addicted to the dangerous meds. I did have a bit of an issue with the Phentenol(sp) patches, and the Morephine three times a day was tough. I could hardly function while on them, everything was just a fog. But seeing as how the pain wasn't any better while on them, I was weened off of them. My doctor is very cautious, he keeps a very close eye on my treatment. He is willing to try anything either one of us thinks might help, sometimes, he's even called me late in the evening with an idea. So, the very last thing I would ever do, is complain about the treatment I've received from anyone who's tried to help me. They've all done everything they can think of, and they all seemed to be upset that they couldn't help me. There is only so much that they can do, and if they try everything, they've done their best. I've tried everything that has been suggested, I've even tried hypnosis because my doctor wanted me to. It didn't help, but it was interesting to say the least. I usually keep my issues to myself, after all there's nothing anyone can do for me. So I'm doing as I've been told, I'm learning to live with the pain. With this being a woodworking/scrolling site, most people don't come here to read about my woes. A lot of them come here for a release, a release from what's going on in the world. They don't come here to read about someone being ill, they come here for woodworking purposes. There's enough sadness in everyone's life, I feel they come here to forget about sad things and what's going on around them. For me, I come here to have my spirits lifted, I'm not here to read sad stories. Believe it or not, I am not a cold hearted person. I do have sympathy for people with issues, but only if the person does as told by professionals in the medical field. I'm sorry for such a long reply, I didn't intend for it to be. Len Quote
