Rob Posted January 9, 2018 Report Posted January 9, 2018 This is my first attempt at a bandsaw box in rimu and macrocarpa. The drawer pull is turned from a scrap of purpleheart. It was fun to make but I wish I had cut the entry slot along the grain as it might have been less visible. All in all, pretty happy with it though. I need to find some better contrasting timber for the next one. Rob Kemaldo, multitom, MTCowpoke22 and 6 others 9 Quote
Scrappile Posted January 10, 2018 Report Posted January 10, 2018 I agree, well done. I like the wood choices also. Rob 1 Quote

Rob I've never seen the entry point on boxes called band saw boxes and aways wondered why they called them band saw boxes, very nicely done! Rob 1 Quote

Decide on your entry point and cut out the drawer shape(s). Take the drawer block and cut off the front and back then cut out the interior. Glue the front and back back on and you have your drawer box. Glue the back on the main piece then sand and finish. There are lots of videos on Youtube and some free plans too. oldhudson Posted January 11, 2018 Report Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) It came out great. The turned pull is perfect! We all learn by doing projects. I'm sure you'll consider the grain when starting the cut next time. I personally think, one of the best things about woodworking is learning and improving our skills.
