meflick Posted January 29, 2018 Report Posted January 29, 2018 Beautiful work you have crafted from Judy's pattern. I think I have it. Need to see. I love the look of it, not sure if she crafted it based on some of the old homes in the Cases Cove area of the Smokies or not. Reminds me of them overtime I see them. Its possible given her location. Will need to ask her sometime. I also love it given its name -"Rocky Top" is near and dear to my TN Vol heart. Quote

Gonzo Posted February 2, 2018 Report Posted February 2, 2018 Wondeful! My Dad made this pattern many years ago. He died about six years ago. My Mom has hanging on the wall just as you come in the door. I always stop and admire it. Thanks Lee, for posting your pictures, and thank you because it made me think of my Dad. What a great way to end the day. Quote

Hawk Posted February 2, 2018 Report Posted February 2, 2018 NICE!!, Under the porch, is that open to the backer? it's quite a nice contrast the way the shadows figure into the work. Chris Quote

Chris No, that area is made with 1/4" Peruvian Walnut, while the proch is 3/4" and raised another 1/4" This piece took a lot of thought to give additional depth wherever I could.
