That is number of US Military who lost their lives since World War One to give this country the standard of living you enjoy. Think of the number of children and grandchildren never born as a result.

So while you enjoy your day off, enjoy the BBQ with friends and family, I hope you pause for a minute and thank your god for those who gave it all.

And most of all, thank your god, for those who, on this day of remembrance, are not at a BBQ, but instead hold a rifle in some god awful place to allow you to enjoy to that brat and beer.

Thanks Jim.  I try to think of those who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms and their families not just on Memorial Day for they gave so much for us.  I also regularly think of and thank those who are presently serving and their family members who also serve in their own way when their loved ones serve.  But for their service and sacrifices, we would not continue to have the freedoms we have to day.  I appreciate all who serve, both our country and our allies.  I thank my God everyday for each and everyone and pray for their safety.  I have had many family members who served our country over the generations and years. Thank you for your 20 years of service.
