I'm giving up scrolling so I can take up glass blowing... 😄

OK, not really, but I wanted to share some images of the amazing exhibit we saw this weekend at Biltmore in Asheville, NC.  Chihuly glass is world renowned although I'd never heard of him before, but friends of ours are into it and we decided to do a long weekend trip to the mountains together and it was amazing to see.

My pictures don't do justice to the beautiful work and detail.  I figured I'd share for any other glass blowing fans. Everything you see in the images is glass.

Oh, and if you've never visited Biltmore and the "house", it's truly mind blowing, especially when you realize it was built in the late 1800's.

Guy's got talent, that's for sure.  Caught what looks like the same exhibit when it came through the DFW area a few years back.  I must not be his target demographic....I can see the artistry in some of the pieces, but even if I had that kind of dough, I can think of other things I'd buy first.  :)

I agree, glass blowing would be a very interesting art.  My wife and I love to go to a shop that is kinda back off the beaten path on the Oregon Coast.  We sit and watch the artist.  It is amazing what He can do.

We were in Seattle a couple of years ago and visited the permanent Chihuly Garden and Glass House next to the Space Needle.  Was definitely interesting.  That same trip my daughter and I took a glass blowing class for an afternoon.  Let's just say I couldn't handle the heat and my lungs would never last.  So I will be sticking to the scroll saw. I do have one glass ornamental ball for my efforts though. Here is a photo of my daughter's (can't find one of mine).  Mine is orange and white.

At least you were able to try it and find out that without any experience, you were still able to make something worth keeping. Congratulations. I guess when I see someone paint a picture, blow glass. do metal work, carve wood.....  anything like that... they make it look so easy that I   immediately think I would like to try it,,,,,, and now after several years of scrolling. I still have the mind set that I can do this....maybe pretty well...if I live long enough
