I have a close friend who had open heart surgery. They split him right up the middle. He ended up with a nasty scar so he went to the tatoo shop and had a zipper tatted over the scar. Pretty neat idea.

Chris, sorry to hear that you are layed up but it's for the best. I know numerous folks who have had knees and hips done. From what I hear, the hip is easier to come back from than the knee. Anyway, as others have said, do the PT and try to move around as much as they will allow you to. Our park manager is a younger woman who has had both knees done and within a few days she was up and walking the park for the exercise. Best of luck to you and keep on keeping on.

Do you have any trouble going in and out of airports Les?

As a matter of fact I once did. It was late at night at the Elmira, NY airport. My friend and I were on our way to a machinist convention. The terminal was nearly empty and when I went through the metal detector beeped. The guard waved me down with his wand and discovered my new knee. He waved me over to a small booth. Turned out he was scheduled for a knee replacement and wanted to talk about it. I dang near missed my flight connection.

the PT keeps getting easier sense i stopped doing so much extra on my own. learned that the hard way. i am now walking without putting any weight on the walker. staples come out tuesday then the 4 weeks of hard pt starts, in the words of my wife.

speaking of that... time for torture!!! 😫😁

I always get stopped in the airport and get a very thorough pat down.  I have deck screws in my back, a metal hip and a computer in my back.  I just smile and be friendly.

Toughest times have been in Germany and Japan.  But most of the time works out.  I always ask the TSA if they would like me in a certain line.

The worst thing you can do is start complaining.  Same goes for customs and passport control.  I have seen some people start complaining and then had there suitcase spread across a 30 ft counter.
