Jean-Marc Posted November 28, 2018 Report Posted November 28, 2018 Hello, I have a Hegner Scrollsaw, and using the foot pedal . Have been using this for years now, but now I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable while scrolling. Since I like to work in a standing mode, there is an imbalance of the body, because I need to constantly keep my right foot on the pedal. I 'm looking for a way to put a lampe switch, like this I can just put on the machine and put off when needed. Like this during my cutting time, I can stand upright on both foot, to balance the body weight. I work mainly standing. The foot switch ( dead man mode) is ok when working in a sitting mode. Thanking you in advance. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
MrsN Posted November 28, 2018 Report Posted November 28, 2018 Most foot pedals can easily be removed. The saw plugs into the foot pedal and the foot pedal plugs into the wall. Take some pictures and show us what the set up looks like and someone will come up with an idea. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted November 28, 2018 Report Posted November 28, 2018 Being as how you are not in the U.S. I imagine your electrical system might be a bit different. Here in the U.S. we do as MrsN above suggests. The Hegner saws we see here all have an on/off switch that actually controls the saw. Then the cord from the saw goes to the floor and plugs into the foot switch that is then plugged into the wall. If yours is set up in the same way, you should be able to just eliminate the foot switch from the schematic. If yours is wired differently, as suggested, a couple of pictures may clear up what our understanding of your problem might be. Good luck to you. And welcome to the SSV forum too. danny 1 Quote
Wilson142 Posted December 9, 2018 Report Posted December 9, 2018 I stand a lot while sawing and I also am not a fan of the dead man style of foot switches. I have a foot switch that is one click on and another click off. I hear people say they don't like that style because if they break a blade or simply need to turn the saw off, they don't want to be hunting for the switch. I don't have any problems locating my switch and if I feel like sitting, I clamp it to the cross member of my stand. I also find that when driving my car and I need to brake, I don't have to take my eyes off the road to locate my brake pedal. It is always in the same place, much like my saw switch. I bought my foot switch on Amazon. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I have had it on the pad for over a year and have not needed to replace the tape. It is a on/off switch and it allows me to use both hand rather than having to reach for the switch on my EX16. Don't want to think about replacing that. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
