don in brooklin on Posted December 29, 2018 Report Posted December 29, 2018 The font called scrollsaw.ttf that Steve Good uses for desk top pattern maker does not show in Inkscape. Shows in Word, Font viewer, Fontnexus, Paint I have tried everything I can think of. Deleted and reinstalled. Rebooted machine. Every time I restart Inkscape but no font Scrollsaw. I have Scrollsaw02 and ScrollsawO3. I have googled and can not see an answer. It was a bug back awhile ago but now one complained since. Anyone have any clue what might be wrong. If anyone has the Pattern maker and Inkscape installed could you please check and let me know. Thanks PS: Just checked GIMP and not there. Weird. Quote
spirithorse Posted December 29, 2018 Report Posted December 29, 2018 Hi, Don, It seems from messages at this site http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=356 that your problem has been an Inkscape problem since at least 2007. Here is one solution that some Inkscape users said works. (Copied and pasted text): "I had the same problem: fonts copied to c:/windows/fonts (I use Windows XP Professional 32-bit) didn't show up in Inkscape 0.46 font selector dialog. Then I tried to add fonts as described here:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314960Namely: Open Explorer (total commander won't work), go to c:/windows/fonts, and FROM THE FILE MENU, SELECT INSTALL NEW FONT!!!This File menu item shows up only if you select the fonts dir in Explorer... Select the dir where you have your new fonts, click Select All and that's all. This action made the mighty OS copy the font files to the fonts dir and also update its secret fonts cache or registry or whatever, but then I saw all the new fonts from Inkscape 0.46." (END QUOTE) I hope this works for you but, will continue to see is I find any other work-arounds. God Bless! Spirithorse Quote
don in brooklin on Posted December 30, 2018 Author Report Posted December 30, 2018 Thanks for trying. That function doesn't work on Windows 10. Windows 7 and before. I have written to Steve to see if he knows what is going on. It is not a big deal as in the mean time I used Cooper Black as a font and made my own base. Now just have to add in the graphic I wanted. jollyred Posted December 30, 2018 Report Posted December 30, 2018 I have the same problem with the font "Birds of Paradise". I am going to keep an eye on this thread to see if that will help me with my problem. Quote

jerry1939 Posted January 14, 2019 Report Posted January 14, 2019 I have #@&+* Windows 10. Just checked Inkscape & "Birds of Paradise" had flown away. Tried to download from dafont. Downloads screen showed when it was already put here. Clicked the box by the download & clicked INSTALL. Rebooted and Birds must have flown south for the winter, because they still are not on Inkscape. jerry Quote
jerry1939 Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 This states that those of us with Windows 10 are up the creek without a paddle for Birds of Paradise & who knows how many others. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/windows-10-missing-fonts jerry Quote
kmmcrafts Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 That's weird.. I have windows 10 64bit.. and last month I downloaded the pattern printer from Steve Good.. and the scroll saw ( all three variations ) installed onto inkscape.. I've been using them right along ever since with no issues.. I hope it stays that way too, as I use them quite a lot, LOL Quote
Larry B Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 (edited) Inkscape forum has this item (look at the last paragraph)... For what it's worth I installed Birds of Paradise last summer. Inkscape still shows it,s there and usable... Edited January 19, 2019 by Larry B Quote
