Jim McDonald Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 I just took delivery of one of their 20 pound "cutoffs" boxes and got a really nice surprise. Got some pieces of book matched walnut, oak and poplar. Sure, they have knots, but they are near the end of the boards and won't really mess with the stuff I'm going to be doing. Take a chance and order some "seconds". You might be amazed at what you get and how much of it is useable. Can't wait to get this stuff sanded to 220 or 320--it's going to look great. OCtoolguy Posted February 6, 2019 Report Posted February 6, 2019 I did the same and because I'm not good at identifying the wood, I asked them to tag it if possible. They did. Great outfit. I got a lot of nice wood. Quote
Scrappile Posted February 6, 2019 Report Posted February 6, 2019 Every time I go to their site, the boxes of wood are out of stock. They must be good. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Chunkthekid Posted February 8, 2019 Report Posted February 8, 2019 I order a box of seconds from them every time I can. I have gotten a lot of great wood. So far , I've been able to use everything they've sent. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
flarud Posted February 13, 2019 Report Posted February 13, 2019 I placed an order with them a few days ago for the 20 lb box plus 2 other pieces of wood. Should receive on this Friday. My UPS tracker emails says that it weighs 15 lbs OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I've yet found two of the same projects that weigh the same amount.. Since wood breaths it's hard to say what the moisture content is by the time it gets where it's going.. I wonder if they seal package them? I've bought lumber at a place just 40 min. from my house and the moisture content changes a great deal in just that 40 min. ride home.. I've had boards be nice and flat leaving the place but by the time I get home they've cupped already too.. LOL.. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
flarud Posted February 14, 2019 Report Posted February 14, 2019 Wife told me that there are actually 2 boxes being shipped out to me. Both state 15 lbs on the UPS tracker. Hopefully they will be delivered tomorrow and I can get busy making some sawdust on Sunday. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I just rec'd a wood order of ash and red cedar. It is shrink wrapped and boxed. Very good job of packaging. Quote
flarud Posted February 16, 2019 Report Posted February 16, 2019 Mine hit some bad weather somewhere, delayed until Monday now. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
flarud Posted February 20, 2019 Report Posted February 20, 2019 Got my shipment on Monday. The 20 lb box of cut-offs weighed 22 lbs. I also ordered,,,or meant to order a piece of 3/4"x10"x24" Walnut and a piece of Maple 1/2"x10"x24". I got the Walnut but the Maple was only 6" wide. Went back and looked at my notes,, that is the size that I ordered by mistake. But in the box of cut-offs was a piece of Maple the exact size that I needed. I just need to run it thru the planer and take off a little roughness. All in all,, happy with the order. Several pieces of Walnut, some Maple and some Cherry. I did ask for them to mark the wood with the species but they must have forgotten. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
