Scrappile Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 (edited) I found this at a free clip art site. Is it possible to make it into a scrollable pattern? Would it be too fragile? Well I know it is probably possible, but would one of you awesome pattern makers be able to do it for me? My daughter would love this. Edited March 4, 2019 by Scrappile amazingkevin 1 Quote
Foxfold Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 I'd not be brave enough to cut it 'out', I'd cut out all the 'black' and then put it on a black backer. But then I'm a coward amazingkevin 1 Quote
jerry1939 Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 To my eye, it looks to me like the picture you posted is a pattern. Apply it to the wood & start cutting. jerry amazingkevin 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted March 4, 2019 Author Report Posted March 4, 2019 It would fall apart. There are no bridges and I am not sure of the best places to try to put them. That is why I am wondering if it is too fragile. Quote
Fab4 Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 There is a saying that goes with that "Some see a wish while others see a weed" It would make a great wall decor Fab4 Scrappile 1 Quote

Rockytime Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 I love all this philosophy! It's just too kool! Quote
teachnlearn Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 In the past did a lot of large patterns. Haven't gotten into portrait cutting, which I've been looking at, reading, Utubing. Seen some very very detailed complex patterns that had a lot of time in them with very fine detail. Looks like this one would fit in that area with consulting someone that does that work to check, let you know how large the pattern needs to be to work to fit a blade and a lot of patience and time. Looks beautiful. RJF Quote
jerry1939 Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 For really delicate projects, I Always put a luan ply sacrifice board above & below, to form a stack. Alternate the grain direction for each piece in the stack. That adds an unbelievable amount of strength/support to what you want to make. jerry teachnlearn 1 Quote
teachnlearn Posted March 6, 2019 Report Posted March 6, 2019 Make so much sense to double back a delicate project. I'm up in years and didn't read it, didn't think of it. Dang, something new and so simple. RJF amazingkevin 1 Quote
LarryEA Posted March 6, 2019 Report Posted March 6, 2019 Looks like a 'Wood Burner/Pyrograph' design. In my opinion, needs major rework to become a scrollsaw pattern. amazingkevin and Birchbark 2 Quote

You didn't post this in the pattern request thread, but i think this is doable, if you have the skills and patience, along with a few veining blades. Russell Falcon 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted March 11, 2019 Author Report Posted March 11, 2019 (edited) Thanks @Birchbark. I actually did discover I put this in the wrong forum and added it to the pattern request forum. Thank you for making a pattern even though I was a dummy. I have started the one @Falcon created, haven't got to spend much time with it yet. It will be very fragile, maybe too fragile, but now I have a backup if my skills do not match his pattern. Edited March 11, 2019 by Scrappile Quote
