Woodmaster1 Posted June 11, 2019 Report Posted June 11, 2019 I was supposed to start my cabinets when I retired 4 years ago. My wife didn't like it when I said it took 3 1/2 years of planning. I think the wait was worth it. Countertop will be quartz and it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get them. The appliances come tomorrow. Lucky2, JimErn and amazingkevin 3 Quote
jollyred Posted June 11, 2019 Report Posted June 11, 2019 Looks to be worth the wait. She should be thankful, my wife has been waiting 10 years for the display cabinet I said I'd make for her. amazingkevin 1 Quote

oldhudson Posted June 11, 2019 Report Posted June 11, 2019 Stunning work!!! I don't think 3.5 years is unreasonable at all. Mine too longer than that. But I have a few questions. They are oak, right? Did you make the cases too or just the fronts? Were the doors stub tenon or? What kind of drawer construction did you use? On the lower cabinets do you have pull-out shelf's? With the exception of the sink cabinet on our my wife wanted drawers in all the lowers. They work really well for us. I may yet at a roll-out for under the sink. You did great they are beautiful. amazingkevin 1 Quote

I made the boxes out of 3/4" plywood except for the ends which I made to look like the doors. All hardwood parts are quartersawn red oak. I used watco dark walnut stain because it was a match to my 100 year old red oak trim throughout the house. I have one pull out shelf for pots and pans. I used soft close door hinges and drawer slides. The stainless steel appliances arrived today and I spent the day installing. To everyone thanks for the compliments. Quote
