I see a couple swallowtails every day Years ago, when in a West Virginia state park, I saw hundreds fluttering in the trees. Scratch that memory, they were monarchs The Eastern tiger swallowtail is the state butterfly of Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, and is the state insect of Virginia.
