OCtoolguy Posted November 10, 2019 Report Posted November 10, 2019 (edited) I am trying to make an expanded version of the votive candle holder that I have posted pics of before. I got some help from another member here on drawing up the pieces and parts but since the new size is beyond the capabilities of my printer, I need to cut the pattern in half and print two of them to get a whole one. I will post the pattern and hope that someone can do their magic and come up with what I need. The piece will end up being about 9.75 inches in diameter. Edited November 10, 2019 by octoolguy Quote

Rockytime Posted November 10, 2019 Report Posted November 10, 2019 I think anyone that can use inkscape is a genius! This old brain does not seem to get it. OzarkSawdust and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote

What kills me Les, I'm pretty computer literate but I just can't seem to make the software do what I want. I know that I'm just missing something. I'd love to take an actual class on it. Trying to do it by watching videos and reading is almost impossible for me. I've even gone so far as to have two computers running so that I can follow the video and do the operations on the second machine. But, I think it's mostly not retaining what I learn. Rockytime Posted November 10, 2019 Report Posted November 10, 2019 My problem is the audio. I have two computers but just a visual does me no good. I will forever be grateful for the wonderful members here for their assistance with patterns. OCtoolguy and OzarkSawdust 1 1 Quote

Ray, If you have that design on your computer you could upload it to Rapid Resizer and enter the size. It automatically does multi sheets of paper. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I don't want to change the size of my pattern, I just want to print one half of the round part. Since the entire thing is about 9.5", and my printer is limiter to 8.5", I just needed to print one half of it twice and piece the pieces together. I am trying RR but I don't see where I can actually do that. Am I missing something? Edited November 10, 2019 by octoolguy Quote

On the left side there is a width and height setting with page size below. It will show the pattern on however many pages it needs to be. I haven't used it much ...but that is how I decreased the size of a trumpet I want to do for my cousin. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I had two computers running as well and still didn't get it. I think I will have to wait until I retire and then spend some serious time trying to learn it. I am with you, I would rather take a class, I learn much better that way. Everybody just says "Youtube it" but it isn't the same. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

It printed it out to 9 3/8". Is there a disparity in the printing that I'm not aware of? Also, is the image on the screen supposed to be "actual" size because it measures a bit smaller that what I want. It's more the same size as what printed out. I can't seem to get anything to print out what I want either in RR or Inkscape. I know it's my mental block but I sure would appreciate any help from folks who know what they're doing. Quote
