nrscroller Posted December 2, 2019 Report Posted December 2, 2019 (edited) HI For years I have use psp 9 to scan my patterns and resize, but its so old it won't find my brother laser printer that I use now. I am running windows 10 on my laptop, what can I use that is easy. I am almost 74 now and everything seems to frustrate me. I have a ton of patterns and I like to sometimes scan them and then resize them smaller. I have tried the windows paint 3d and a couple others and I want to be able to resize in inches not ratios. I guess I will look at inkscape Thanks Bill Edited December 2, 2019 by nrscroller Quote
JimErn Posted December 2, 2019 Report Posted December 2, 2019 It is all up to the scanner to scan, so from what you say you need a new one to start with. Win10 made lot of old hardware obsolete. Look for a flat bed scanner that can output to pdf, jpeg, etc then if the scanner software does not have a resize setting for the scan, install the free inkscape, open the scanned pattern in inkscape and resize Quote
nrscroller Posted December 2, 2019 Author Report Posted December 2, 2019 HI all, I was able to scan with windows and save the file and I got inkscape and figured out how to resize it. Thanks for the help Bill oldhudson and Puzzleguy 2 Quote
Puzzleguy Posted February 5, 2020 Report Posted February 5, 2020 (edited) Epson makes some pretty decent and cheap scanners - mine was like 69 dollars 5-6 years ago and still running strong - Ive been very happy with it - i believe once hooked to your computer , it automatically downloads the software - or you get a card with the internet site to visit and how to do it . easy peasy ! I don't like combination machines like a scanner and printer in one - also not a fan of ink jetsprinters ! I also have adobe photoshop ( a very old version ) which comes in handy just about every day ( which works hand in hand with the scanner ) if you ever do Craft or Art Shows -its a necessity -- most shows are juried online digitally . (real photos are seldom used -) and that software helps you manipulate the images to what every format they want ( most are jpeg or tiff ) Edited February 5, 2020 by Puzzleguy spkelling Quote
LarryEA Posted February 6, 2020 Report Posted February 6, 2020 Maybe I'm out of touch, but I use my Canon lazer copier to resize. Quote
amazingkevin Posted February 7, 2020 Report Posted February 7, 2020 Rapid Resizer.com by Patrick Roberts is the tool for me. So easy to use and in flash you have what you want, big or small, stretched, I can't do what I do for almost 11years with out it. It put bread with butter on the table!!! Quote
Jim Finn Posted February 13, 2020 Report Posted February 13, 2020 I use windows paint for all photos or scans and to resize I adjust by percentages and note the inches size on the rulers next to the image. Quote
