Sycamore67 Posted December 19, 2019 Report Posted December 19, 2019 (edited) I am trying to sell my 1988 Hegner either as is or some of the parts. It is not running because the lower arm is broken in the back part and the tension rod is broken. I have posted pictures of the broken parts in a post in General Scrollsaw. Shipping it as is would be expensive at about $50. Let me know if you have any interest in it or any of the parts. I am asking $100 or best offer plus shipping for it. If no offers, it will go in trash. Edited December 19, 2019 by Sycamore67 OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted December 19, 2019 Report Posted December 19, 2019 I see why you went with a new saw rather than repairing this one.. The lower arm cost about as much as a nice used Hegner, LOL.. not to mention the tension mechanism.. I know everyone talks about parts being expensive.. Now I see why.. Wonder how much work it'd be for my neighbor to machine solid Aluminum arms for something like this.. LOL.. I'm sure someone will grab it off your hands.. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Puzzleguy Posted December 26, 2019 Report Posted December 26, 2019 Sycamore67 , I know the back tension rod is about a hundred or so- do you have a picture of the lower arm break - OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Sycamore67 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Report Posted December 26, 2019 The the pictures were posted in a thread of mine called "A Sad Day". OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted December 26, 2019 Report Posted December 26, 2019 Is the motor good? Before trashing it I would save the good parts and offer them on Ebay. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Sycamore67 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Report Posted December 26, 2019 The motor and control are good. I have no interest in spending my time dealing with eBay or Craigslist. If someone wants it as is great, let me know. If nobody wants it that is great also. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

amazingkevin Posted December 28, 2019 Report Posted December 28, 2019 *If man made it man can fix it!!! OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Sycamore67 Posted December 28, 2019 Author Report Posted December 28, 2019 Of course, I could fix it. However, the cost is about $200. The saw is 31 years old and now I wonder about the motor, switch and electronics. If I replaced any of these, it would be hundreds of dollars. It is kind of like an old car and how much do you invest to fix it. Everyone has their own limits. 4 hours ago, amazingkevin said: wish I had time and money ,for toys like this! Puzzleguy Posted January 2, 2020 Report Posted January 2, 2020 that break really cant be fixed - dont know what kind of metal - but if a lower arm is available ( someone said 200 ? ) and i know the tension rods are like 95 bucks ( bought one recently for my saw -those do wear out ) so your looking at like 300 hundred -which is crazy if i had a 18v , Id work something out just for the parts - but then again ive got so much stuff, parts and broken stuff - its crazy here OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Sycamore67 Posted January 2, 2020 Author Report Posted January 2, 2020 Well, I will wait another couple of weeks to see if any interest. If no interest, it will go out in the trash. I really just want to cover any shipping and time it takes to ship. Right now, it is taking up too much space. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted January 7, 2020 Report Posted January 7, 2020 Larry, are there any scroll saw clubs near you? Or maybe school shop class would be interested in fixing it up. I'd take it off your hands if we were a bit closer to each other. I'd just set it in a corner and watch for parts to come up on eBay. Somebody out there HAS to be interested in fixing it up. I think Kevin (KMM) was toying with it for a bit., Quote
DavidSchutt Posted January 8, 2020 Report Posted January 8, 2020 Hi, Larry! I sent a personal message to you with my contact information because I'm interested in buying your broken scrollsaw. If you didn't receive it, would you let me know? That way I can try again. Quote
kmmcrafts Posted January 9, 2020 Report Posted January 9, 2020 Yeah, I'm still interested but I also don't have the time to take the 5 hour round trip right now...I told him I'd take it but I don't "need" another saw as I have 5 right now.. LOL so I was letting it sit and simmer for someone else that may want / need it more than I do.. If he's ready to move it out of his way he can message me and i'll just pay to ship it..since I'm running like a chicken with it's head cut off lately, LOL Everything expires at the end of this month for my business licenses etc.. so I've been trying to get all that taken care of along with my bookkeeping etc.. and.. I'm in the process of starting a new business with new website etc.. so I'm keeping busy for sure.. IF it were the newer style saw with the up front tension release etc.. I'd have made time to get it.. But it is a older saw that needs work and money thrown at it... that I really don't need.. So I'll let it go to someone that has more time and need for the saw if they want it.. If nobody strikes a deal I'll gladly pay him for it and he can ship it to me.. I don't want to see it just thrown in the scrap pile.. Quote
Sycamore67 Posted January 9, 2020 Author Report Posted January 9, 2020 Yes, I am running around also. Not certain what I will do but it is a royal pain to box up something like this and carry it to FedEx or UPS. One person interested wanted it shipped to Israel. Price is $50 Tension Rod. $61.95 Lower Arm...$178.95 Quote
