I have an older computer running Windows 10 (at least I'm pretty sure it is). For many years I've used Firefox for a browser, always without issues. Last week I signed into the credit union to check activity (deposits, auto withdrawals etc.). The system would not let me view any of my statements. I called and after a discussion and trying a number of fixes (re-booting, etc. ) the person suggested I sign-out and try it with Chrome. Worked just fine. No issues.......then today I tried to look at and EOB, with my health insurer with Firefox and once again it wouldn't open. So I tried it with Chrome and bingo - worked fine. What's going on??????

Thanks for reading.

Lots of things could be happening.  I use Firefox myself, mostly, but have Chrome for a couple of websites that, for whatever reason, won't open in Firefox.  Sometimes its just a matter of the owner of the website not keeping their site up to date on the latest versions of FF, sometimes its a glitch in FF that is addressed in the next update (always keep your browser up to date).  For instance, last quarter, I tried to submit the "Find the Fox" contest in the ScrollSaw magazine website, and had to use Chrome because the form to fill out would not show up in FF, even after a reboot.  I just filled it out again, last night, using FF with no problems.  There was an update to FF a couple of days ago.

Your security settings may also be blocking popups or Java/Flash (yes...some websites still use Flash), so it may be a setting that's doing it.

Personally, I just bookmark the site in whichever browser it works in, and maybe occasionally come back and try FF just to see if the site works in it again.  Unfortunately, there's not really a one-browser-fixes-everything solution that I've found.  Maybe Opera?

Along with the very valid info Rabid presented, I use firefox, chrome. tor and opera

my default is opera, once you get it set up the way you like it, it is fast, uses less resources, and so far I have only found one site it will not open, I'm in opera now in fact

I used to use Internet Explorer for everything, but kept running into the same problem you have. It seems as though as websites and other features update, some browsers can't keep up. I've never had any issues using Chrome and am slowly switching all my usage over to it. By the way, kudos for banking at a Credit Union!

Sites are moving away from being FF compatible due to Win 10 and the Edge browser - Win server 2019 is the current standard

I've been using FF for as long as I can remember - just after Netscape folded

My suggestion: Moving forward use your FF for any sites that are not running win 10+ servers (banks, insurance many gov. agencies etc use win platforms)

Also, make sure you've upgraded to Quantum+ - new updates are coming out almost monthly trying to keep up with the  new server models.

It's all cloud related btw - which I have been against since it was first dicussed almost 20 years ago  - I personally do not "cloud" anything! All my data is kept within my network and secured in my network with no outside access!

But that's me :)
