Good afternoon,

has anyone had any experience with the Wen power tools, are they worth it, I am looking to purchase a bandsaw and planer, I have also seen YouTube on harbor freight Bauer power tools, but always felt they were junk, any info on either would be appreciated, Thx RJ

I don't have the bandsaw or planer. but I do have the scrollsaw and a bench drill - both are IMO very good for the price!

As to Bauer - I have no direct experience with them however there is a new line of tools Hercules I think and it is getting pretty good reviews for the price

I have a Wen Drill press (6") throat and a Wen Belt sander. Love them both. Had  HF belt sander , Junk!! Wen Drill press has great depth stops, tiltable deck and knob adjustable speed control. Don't have to move belts internally. Also has laser guide and light.

Sorry to hijack but that's a really nice "clean" shop - thanks for sharing the layout

I've got a WEN belt / disc sander that gets a lot of use.. My neighbor had one and said it only lasted a short time and a set screw came loose which sheared off the pulley for the drive belt.. He's not too mechanical and should have stopped using it if something wasn't right, LOL.. But anyway.. mine also came loose.. but I "Noticed something" and took it apart to see what was happening.. a little blue loc-tite and tighten the set screw down.. Been going for over 10 years now and almost daily use...

I also have the WEM rotary tool ( dremel ) mounted into a dremel plunge router base for drilling pilot holes.. No issues with it yet..

I think with proper use as it's intended for ( Not commercial use ) and for the money the tools are of decent quality... Keep in mind.. as with any brand of tool. If something doesn't seem like it's working as it should.. stop using it and look into it to see why.. don't be like my neighbor and use it until it's completely junk.. Then complain about how cheap of a tool it is, LOL.. I've found loose set screws and bolts etc on higher end equipment.. so before someone says you get what you pay for.. keep that in mind too..

My Harbor freight belt disc sander worked good 5 years. Then I had to modify it to keep it going and the belt tracking correctly. Works better than new now. The adjuster for the belt broke. It was a quick fix after I thought about it with a eye end bold and a angle bracket.
