It's like a dark red birthmark, but it's totally healed and doesn't cause me any grief. Thank you for asking and for your complimentary comment. It's much appreciated. Quote

I've 'bridged' the pattern and hope to do it on my saw too, just for curiosity. You sure can't get the sharp corners with the router but I think that on some of the bigger pieces I have planned it will be ideal. Quote
Scrappile Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 Glad it has healed, and if it is any consultation, I think about it every time I use CA glue,,,, I am much more careful now than I use to be. Foxfold 1 Quote
jerrye Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 Great image, and wonderful work. Looks like there may be one floater left in the closest ear... Quote

Ooh not sure what you mean. This is all one solid piece of wood so there were no floaters at all. I'm probably missing the point of what you've said, sorry. Quote

Mmm, not sure what you mean either I think I must be missing something somewhere. Yes it was done with a router. All that is 'black' has been cut out and painted, all that is wood are bits that I've routered around so they are part of the main piece of wood. Edited February 28, 2020 by Foxfold Quote
RabidAlien Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 Sorry, there are a couple of spots that look like floaters if you're going to adapt the pattern for scrolling. If you cut out the black, those spots mentioned would fall out of the piece. Quote

If you cut out the black, those spots mentioned would fall out of the piece. Oh, I see. Yes, I've put the original pattern through Inkscape and have adjusted it to create a scrollsaw pattern. I hope to do it on my saw so that I can 'compare' the two pieces side by side. I've decided that it would be better to do 'big' pieces or 'signs' on the router and keep my fretwork patterns for the scrollsaw. For this piece I just wanted to know what was possible with the router. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities RabidAlien, amazingkevin and jerrye 3 Quote
RabidAlien Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 Oh, there was no criticism in our posts. What you've done with your router is like what a teenage Michelangelo did with the rocks he found in his Mom's garden. You say "first attempt", we say "AWESOME!!!" and look forward to many more masterpieces to come. jerrye 1 Quote

Bill WIlson Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 Don't mind me. I'm just sitting here, with my mouth agape, marveling at the thought of doing that freehand with a router. You have my utmost respect and admiration. Foxfold 1 Quote
