dustdawg Posted March 5, 2020 Report Posted March 5, 2020 Hello, I would like some help creating a pattern for my wife's favorite car that she bought new in 1972. It is a Datsun 240Z that she had 40+ years before she sold it to a collector. I am thinking a Christmas tree ornament would be a great reminder for her. Thank you for your help! Dustdawg Quote
JimErn Posted March 5, 2020 Report Posted March 5, 2020 Going to be difficult IMO to make this into an orniment but good luck Bring up the PDF and use the print scaling feature Please post a pic of the cutting when you are done 72Datsun240Z.pdf frankorona, ChelCass and John B 3 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted March 5, 2020 Report Posted March 5, 2020 (edited) I just printed the pattern to see how it'd come out.. If I was making it ( which I've actually been going to ask for a pattern of a 280z but this is the same thing so I may use the pattern) I would crop out everything other than the car.. I don't use the PDF size scaling, I didn't even know that was possible.. I save the image as jpeg or whatever it is when i right click the image and save as.. Then i go find the image ( icon ) where ever it saves to and right click that.. select print then a window comes up with photo sized printing.. ( ie 8 x 10 or 5 x 7 etc etc..) Most things I print as ornaments I print at 3.5 x 5 and they come out nicely at a ornament size.. I usually have to select the check box to fit image to frame.. Since I make a lot of ornaments and sell I typically select the number of prints that will fit to a full sheet of paper.. ( typically 4 patterns if the print is good sized at 3.5 x 5 ) some patterns I use the 5 x 7 format and only get two patterns per sheet.. I do this this way so I'm not wasting papers as I print on the self adhesive shipping labels and one pattern per sheet gets pricey.. That is why I use this resizing method.. Stack cut 5 at a time.. Normally stock 20 ornaments of each style so 20 ornaments per sheet of paper cutting said pattern 4 times.. Anyway, I've done many of the patterns of cars I've asked for into ornaments and most have been doable in a ornament.. I think this one is too but as I said.. I'd crop out the car only and then print it out in either a 3.5 x 5 or a 5 x 7 format.. should be doable.. BTW, Jim Awesome Job with the designing.. I might use for future project.. dustdawg Posted March 7, 2020 Author Report Posted March 7, 2020 Thank you, Jim, I'll give this a go and see how I do with your pattern. I'm a real novice at scrolling. All the best, Dustdawg Quote
