wdkits1 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Hi Everyone Monday started off just fine. One of my neighbors came by and wanted to know if I would be interested in some old furniture because he's cleaning out the garage and needs to get rid of lots of stuff. I got a couple of old chairs that need to be re-caned, an old desk that I could use in the shop and other odds and ends that are just too good to throw away. ( from one pack-rat to another)When I got home another neighbor was cutting down an old oak tree and wanted to know if I wanted it for firewood. Sure. Loaded it up on the truck then went to his house and loaded up another truckload. He restores old cars so we discussed how his 1964 Chevy Impala convertible and his 1937 Ford 2 door coupe would look if I were to do them as Intarsia. Came home, went out to the shop and started working on a new custom bible box for a client when I started feeling a little hungry. Went in the house and ate a piece of pizza, went back out to the shop to work on the box when I started feeling like I was getting indigestion. Stopped by the truck and unloaded the firewood, went back in the house and got some water.Sat down which is when I started to get a heavy sensation in my chest and arms. This can't be good I thought. At this point I got on the computer and did a google search--Symptoms of a Heart Attack. Damn --textbook symptoms--pressure in chest, numbness in arms, pain in back and jaw.Called my wife at work--Hello,what's up. Hi babe, ahh I think I'm having a heart attack. How about calling 911 for me and coming home..The rest is as they say history. I had to have 2 stents to open up one artery that was 80% blocked and another that was 30% blocked.I'm back home now and other than feeling like a pin cushion am doing pretty good. Will have to make a few lifestyle changes and be a walking testimonial for the pharmaceutical companys but I am glad to report that just the fact that you are reading this today means that you will hopefully hear from me in the future. Take care everyone Quote
Travis Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Oh my! I'm glad to hear you're OK. I'm also glad to know you had sense enough to recognize it as a heart attack. Us guys tend to blow stuff like that off and blame indigestion. Get some rest and take care of yourself. You'll bounce back in no-time! Quote
Clayton717 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 glad to hear your ok. you recognized the symptoms and acted quickly. heart attacks are nothin to fool around with, they(Doctor) thought I had ones a few years ago. Scared the crap out of me. It runs in my family, my dad is the first male in his family to make it past 55 he'll be 63 this year. Take it slow, rest and get well Quote

mikesscrollsaw Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 Glad to hear your doing better. The older I get the more of my friends start having heart problems. Gets me worried a little. Quote
Dan Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 Glad to hear you're better. Too many people blow it off as indigestion. Hope all goes well. Dan Quote
wombatie Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Glad you are OK Mike, the same thing happened to me early last year and I had to have a stent put in. Now I see a Cardiologist regularly and I am now on a 2 year heart research program which means I'm on extra tablets, but who cares about that if it means they get the information they need to help other's. Take care Mike and do what the doctors tell you. Marg Quote
Eagledrum70 Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Glad to hear you are doing okay. I quit smoking July 2008 because I was worried about my health. I had a heart attack about 6months previous and the doctor told me my cholesterol was so high it was barely on the chart. I weighed almost 300 pounds and I now weigh 160. Mainly due to eating right and quitting smoking .I feel better at 40 than I did at 20 , so take care of yourself life is precious. Quote
