Popular Post Badgerboy Posted June 2, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted June 2, 2020 I have been pondering, designing, cutting and waiting on this project for several months. I started out just wanting a sign for my shop. Eventually I knew I wanted it outside and viewable from both sides.  Then came the idea of needing a sign bracket, ya the order of design was a bit backward . After searching for days and getting no satisfaction I decided to design my own sign bracket. Long story short, 2 machinist later I finally found someone to build my bracket. I am moderately satisfied with the bracket outcome although to be honest I was hoping for better quality.  I learned a great deal through the process and have refined the process for the sign and its assembly. Imam also looking for another source to build my sign brackets and pondering offering these signs on my website.   Details: sign is a 8â diameter circle, triple layer of 1/4 inch stock. The two outsides are BB and are stack cut.  The center is mdf.  After assembly the sign is covered in Helmsman outdoor marine varnish, 3 coats.  After fitting the sign into the bracket (both are hand made so neither are perfectly round) I coat the outer edge of the sign with silicone and slide it into the bracket and pin it in place. After wiping away excess silicone I let it dry, my hope is the silicone helps seal the edge from rain.  Now I just need to find a place to mount the sign outside my shop. I hope you enjoy. FullSizeRender.mov Dave Monk, frankorona, Scrolling Steve and 9 others 12 Quote

Rockytime Posted June 3, 2020 Report Posted June 3, 2020 Very nice sign but I don't see the bracket you are talking about. Quote
Rockytime Posted June 3, 2020 Report Posted June 3, 2020 OOps, I just took another look at the second photo and recognize the sign bracket. I think it looks great. Quote
dgman Posted June 3, 2020 Report Posted June 3, 2020 It is a very nice sign Todd, but a bit of a warning. BB will not hold up outdoors. Even with three coats of marine varnish. The glue between the layers will degrade and the layers will delaminate. The only way it will withstand outdoor weather is if you painted it with outdoor paint. Then repaint every year. amazingkevin 1 Quote
