John B Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 G'day all, Now that the internal borders have been lifted in WA and the end of term School holidays starting 2 weeks ago, we took the opportunity to go to Perth to see Dad. I hope I'm still as active and positive as him when I'm 84. We took the War Office's car, It's part of her package as Principle, A VW Passat Wagon (Hitler's Revenge) The indicators are on the wrong bloody side of the steering column so the wipers indicated direction changes more than a few times It has so many bells and whistles (Unnecessary things) that the manual is 400+ pages. Anyhow it got us there and back, 1200kms, without a problem and in relative comfort. I must admit it runs on the smell of an oily rag, we could almost do the return trip on one tank. I still prefer my Falcon and have that under cover for the time being( Rather use company fuel then mine) It was nice to be able go to the shops and see people, even have a meal out without worrying. Best wishes to all especially those in lock down 2 in Victoria. Take care amazingkevin, RabidAlien and meflick 3 Quote
WayneMahler Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 Must have been great to get out for a bit and enjoy family time. Hopefully all this Covid stuff will be gone in short time. I highly doubt it but I can dream . John B 1 Quote
Jim McDonald Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 John, if I remember some pictures you posted on the other board, getting in and out of a Passat would be a bit of an exercise. Did it have enough room for you to be comfortable? John B 1 Quote
wombatie Posted July 23, 2020 Report Posted July 23, 2020 You know how to make me cry John, just to feel as if a bomb is not about to go off would be a wonderful feeling. Glad you had a great trip and that you dad is fit and well. Marg John B 1 Quote

Did it have enough room for you to be comfortable? Plenty of leg room Jim, but a bit low. The seats are not nearly as padded compared to the Falcon. It would make a nice around town, car but I had pretty good butt ache after 4 hours It's a turbo charged diesel 4 cylinder, There is quite a bit of lag when you put your foot down but once everything has caught up it moves relatively quickly. Nothing like the instant go with the big six in the Ford 4 litre (250ci) she just lopes along. Quote

Just keep your distance and take care. wombatie 1 Quote

Thanks Brenda, Missed catching up with my sisters, but next time. Had a visit with Elizabeth's sister so all's good. Elizabeth was in her element as the casino has reopened, I let her go and play the pokies while I read. Take care Quote
