Dan Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 This is another attempt at bringing the scroll saw to the lathe. If you've seen Kentucky license plates, this may look familiar. I did this on some bookmarks a while back and was wondering if I could do it on a pen. I had to use FD puzzle blades and a #63 drill bit to get these tiny cuts. The wood is walnut (native to Kentucky) and the image is poly resin with blue dye. I added some Pearlex but it doesn't show very well. It came out OK, but there was a little bleeding of the color into the wood. Overall I like it, but will try other methods to keep the dye from bleeding. Comment/critiques welcome. Dan Quote
wedo scroll Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 That's a very nice design, turning and finish. Its too bad you had that slight bleed into the wood. What dye are you using? Once you solve that problem you'll have a great pen! Bill Quote
