Jennifer Moon-Child Posted June 25, 2021 Report Posted June 25, 2021 I've been using the Pegas blade chuck on my Excalibur, and I do a lot of scrolling so the first one lasted me about a year before I had to switch it out for a fresh one. I also switch out the set screws from time to time. In December I started on a new one and within a couple of months I began to have a problem where the lever won't stay down at all. I happened to have a spare on hand (grabbed it during a black Friday sale), so I switched to the new one and now, after about 3 months, I am having the same problem. The second I push the lever down, it pops back up. I've made sure the head of the saw is level, there's no lubrication anywhere, the set screws are new and aligned with each other in the top and bottom chucks, I've cleaned out the threading, I am out of ideas and really prefer not to have to change out this $100+ part every 3 months. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this or if it can be fixed besides replacing the whole chuck again? Thanks in advance! I've attached a video of the issue. Denny Knappen Posted June 25, 2021 Report Posted June 25, 2021 It looks like the lever is worn and needs to be replaced. I keep them in stock. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Jennifer Moon-Child Posted June 25, 2021 Author Report Posted June 25, 2021 Cool, I didn't know you could replace the levers on the Pegas. I would love to get a new one! OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Jennifer Moon-Child Posted June 25, 2021 Author Report Posted June 25, 2021 Denny, I found your website and ordered a lever and some blades. I will plan on ordering spare levers in the future to keep on hand (parts always seem to wear out for me when I am at my busiest). Thank you very much! OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Denny Knappen Posted June 25, 2021 Report Posted June 25, 2021 Thanks for the order. It is already shipped. Jennifer Moon-Child, GrampaJim and OCtoolguy 1 2 Quote
Roberta Moreton Posted June 25, 2021 Report Posted June 25, 2021 I have a question. How far are you pushing the lever down? Like this or more? I have seen where people that pushed it too far had problems. Just checking. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

kmmcrafts Posted June 26, 2021 Report Posted June 26, 2021 I was going to say the same about pushing the lever too far, but after watching the video she doesn't appear to doing that.. I think maybe Denny is correct. I also didn't know Denny had the levers. I also have had some issues of mine popping up recently.. Maybe I need to think about ordering parts too, LOL. Denny Knappen Posted June 26, 2021 Report Posted June 26, 2021 With heavy use, the tension lever can wear causing it to flip. It is an easy repair. The only difficulty is getting the spring clamped to expose the pin on the lever. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I don’t need one but thought I’d check the price for when I need a replacement. Quote

Jennifer Moon-Child Posted June 26, 2021 Author Report Posted June 26, 2021 Thanks everyone, I definitely haven't been pushing it too far, I read the instructions the first time I used the new chuck head when they first came out. I just didn't know the levers could be replaced, or that they could be purchased. Denny shipped my new one like immediately so I'll be back in business on Tuesday if the postal service cooperates. I've already figured out how to remove the old lever and install a new one, it's just a matter of pushing out the little pin that holds it in. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted June 26, 2021 Report Posted June 26, 2021 On Denny's site click the search button and type "lever" then you don't need to go through all the pages.. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Well, I thank him for setting that up for you. I used to have to scroll page after page to get to the MG blade I was looking for. Now I just type in the search MG #3 on the main page in the search and it brings up the three listings Repackaged, Gross, and Dozen option.. and I don't have to scroll through all the pages. A while back I was going to suggest using sub categories or something to make it easier to get to.. But the search works really well, other than not having a sub category such as "Parts" I would have never known you sell parts until I seen this posting. Having sub categories would make the site more user friendly for your shoppers and show more of what you offer, but the search function also works great for those of us that know you sell it, . Hi Kevin. Yes, he was very helpful. As for parts, I only stock the parts that are suggested as routine maintenance. There are many other parts available. You noticed the repackaged blades. These are MGT blades only. Maybe more to follow. Some have asked about dozen blades at the gross price. Since these are repackaged from the gross pack, I priced them at the gross price divided by four. MGT gross price is $35.04. The repackaged is $8.76 for 3 dozen ($35.04 / 4 = $8.76) OCtoolguy and kmmcrafts 1 1 Quote
