Popular Post John M Posted August 27, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted August 27, 2021 Been making this little box for a while out of solid Walnut. I decided to add little something to them so I made a length of checkered material for the tops. I randomly cut the tops to maximize the material. Size is roughly 2 1/4 × 2 1/4 × 1 with the storage being 3/4 deep with clear lacquer finish. new2woodwrk, Roberta Moreton, frankorona and 21 others 24 Quote
preprius Posted August 27, 2021 Report Posted August 27, 2021 (edited) So i count 6 to 7 squares across. At 2.25 inch that is roughly 0.3 inches. per square. How did you cut these strips? Edited August 27, 2021 by preprius Quote
John M Posted August 27, 2021 Author Report Posted August 27, 2021 They are 3/8" squares. Started by gluing up opposing stips. Walnut Maple Wanut etc. Then cross cut at 3/8 so you have strips of squares. When gluing up you spin every other one to make the checkered pattern. This board came out approximately 6" wide, all on all I believe it was 75 strips. Quote
Dak0ta52 Posted August 27, 2021 Report Posted August 27, 2021 I can see myself handling those little squares of wood with my big hands. They would be all over my shop. Excellent job. the boxes turned out great. Quote
lawson56 Posted August 27, 2021 Report Posted August 27, 2021 Now they are just Fantastic, and So Cool. If they were Orange checked Tenn, Vol fans would go crazy for them. Quote
wombatie Posted August 28, 2021 Report Posted August 28, 2021 Now that is certainly thinking outside the box. They look terrific. Marg Quote
