Popular Post GrampaJim Posted September 19, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted September 19, 2021 Oprey pattern by Bruce Worthington. Not my best work, a lot of life issues slowed finishing this down. I used walnut, basswood, aspen and poplar. The perch is catalpa, and the yellow of the eye is yellowheart. Norm Fengstad, crupiea, Dan and 12 others 12 3 Quote
preprius Posted September 19, 2021 Report Posted September 19, 2021 Beautiful bird. I remember seeing an osprey nest in northern idaho. Now this art piece is also beutiful. I like the different woods used for the claws. The subtile color difference just enhances the details. The sanding on the wing pieces have the overlap feel. Maybe someday 10 yrs or so, I can get to the level of your "not the best work". GrampaJim 1 Quote

It can be learned, accurate cutting is first and you have that down. Next, some flex drum sanders like Judy Gail Roberts sells, and some books too. Then just dive in. Its time consuming and will never be as good as we would like. At the end of the day, I would just rather do fretwork, but my friends and family keep pushing me into Intarsia. Dak0ta52 1 Quote
