Excellent color sense. I wish I had that kind of mind for color. Thanks for showing us. What is the FB group name?

Chris

Scroll saw community. There are a ton of scroll saw groups and I belong to most of them. Lot's of ideas there.

Facebook is a place that is highly censored and I find myself if their jail quite often. I now have 4 identities. The latest one is Roland Schitt.

I have a love hate thing with FB, love the Marketplace and pretty much dislike the rest.. The groups are clunky to try to follow and keep up with etc. I'll have to check this group out that you mentioned.. I'm probably already on it, LOL.. that's about how much I mess with FB..

Ray there is a new social site coming soon that doesn't have jails etc.. a former leader is launching the site and it's available for pre-ordering in your app store right now.. search for "Truth Social " I read that it's supposed to launch for the public to use in Feb. Something tells me you'd still have more fun messing with the FB police though.. Not being able to get into trouble kinda takes the fun out of it.. 😂

@OCtoolguy Ray or anybody here... what category do you put this in?  We have intarsia/segmenting.  But this does not quit fit in either..  Members here do their beautiful pieces that are painted.. where as intarsia centers around different woods... segmentation centers around one wood with stains.. I am not sure where these fit.. they are beautiful and to me deserve their own special category... I am playing with what I, and the book I have refer to segmentation.... I am learning mainly that staining is an art in itself..(I am also learning it is not easy...so many makers of stains and so many variations of the same color between the makers).. Then there are these where painting of which I feel is an art of itself is required... this is another dimension..

There should be a new category called "Morphing". It seems that no matter what the subject, it can morph into something else.

To edit: I misunderstood your post Paul. To answer your question, I would call it segmentation. It is " segmented" wood but colored in some method whether it be stain or paint or just left in it's natural state. This particular artist is doing it in a way that I might refer to as "paint by numbers" because it has no blending of the colors. I like it! That's why I shared it here. I think the artist hit on something pleasing to the eye.

I would say it’s segmentation. Cut as one piece shaped, painted and put back together. Intarsia on occasion also uses paint to get a specific colour. But I am curious what others on this forum think as there are some who do this.

I just tried to follow the 2 links I originally posted but they don't seem to work now. But, if you are at all interested in her work, go to Facebook and type in Lidiya Zubko. Follow it to her page. She has a lot of really neat stuff posted. I think she is from Russia. Very talented with her segmentation and color choices.
