The Gallery moved from a building in Ormond Beach, Fl to a larger building located in a revitalization area in Daytona Beach, Fl along the river.  The City of Daytona Beach is encouraging and offering incentives to improve the area with various high-end establishments having an emphasis on the arts and culture.  The area is popular with many locals and tourists alike, as the City holds many events such as Wine Walks, Art Walks and other entertainment presentations along the river.  There is something going on almost every weekend.

The building is an old (circa 1880) two story red brick construction building that has history of being a number of different restaurants and even a craft brewery for a while.   After a lot of setbacks getting construction permits and contracted work completed, volunteers from among the co-op artist fitted out the first floor of the building with exhibit walls and was able to have our “soft” opening this past weekend.  A more formal grand opening will take place after our sign company installs our new signage.  Unfortunately, material for the signage is on back order due to the backup of materials on the container ships.

The second floor still requires renovation and will include various instruction classrooms and actual operational studios.  All the walls will add more opportunities for more co-op artist to show their work.

The artist, including myself, that did a lot of the physical construction of the exhibit walls were given our choice of exhibit space and I was able to obtain a prime location.  The space is larger than what I had in the old location and the rent will be significantly more, however I believe I will do well as I have already received indications of interest in four pieces.

This is what may new space looks like.

My area is near the rear entrance where most parking is, so a lot of foot traffic will come in or leave that way.  My back wall projects out and can bee seen all the way through the area from the front gallery.

At the opening yesterday, I was pleasently supprised at the many VERY positive comments and interest I received.

Frank that looks very sophisticated, inticing, to the eyes.

The pieces seem to look better on display.  Maybe it is lighting. It is nice that all the eagles are grouped together.

question for the un-informed hey thats ME.

I noticed my eyes going to the hex framed piece.  The stand up pieces also catch my eye a bit more.   Maybe it is too uniform?

What is your learnings about fine art presentations?

Me.

Only been up for two days.  Reaction from visitors to the Gallery over the weekend was, to my astonsiment, extreamly positive. Very wonderful comments about the presentation it self and to my work.   Almost every one who stopped by stood there for a long time and studdied the work.  Many had question about the process.

When viewing in person, the hex piece is above eye level and not so attention getting untill you look at everything individually.  I did try to layout the presentation in vingnettes (ie: Eagles, flowers, horses, beachie stuff, comical).  I was a little concerned the space was too crowded, but so far it does not seem to matter.  The rent is high so I needed to get a much work on display as possible.  Yeah, those who have price tags with 4 or more digits in the price can afford to display only a few pieces.  When the Gallery was in the old location, in just the four months I was there, I did sell 7 pieces covering the rent plus a little profit.  I'm hoping at this location will do better.
