I've been saving up to buy a new jointer for the shop.  I've had my heart set on the Jet 6" with helical head.  When I first started looking at them, they were about $1,500.  But with supply chain issues, the jointer is much more expensive and backordered by several months.

In you opinion (and without political jabs or commentary), do you think the price will go down in the near future?  Or do you suppose it'll stay this way and I might as well get on the waiting list?

I work at a Woodcraft store and prices have been going up so often we marked out the price on all the price tags on the "big iron". Jet and Powermatic (same parent company) had an increase in August and October. I wouldn't be shocked if there was another in early 22, not that I know that to be true.

You know how prices (not just tool prices) are, they go up overnight and take forever to come back down.  I'd be very surprised if prices came back down any in 2022.  Demand is still high so why would they.  I personally have a Jet drum sander and 8" jointer on order.

One can get grey hair deciding on prices, purchasing and looking for best deals.  I had a kick back scare with my old table saw. After agonizing thinking; my wife said go for a change, I bought a Saw stop table saw that cost a pile of money. It made such a change in my working habits and now I wonder why I ever procrastinated and worried about having to pay full price.

Travis prices will always go up sometimes they go down but don't allow it to interfere with what you like to do.
