Wood Toy Airplane Modeled After The A-10 Thunderbolt II aka Warthog

A few months ago, my grandson asked questions about the 30x173mm round from a GAU-8 I have sitting on my desk. We watched several videos of the A-10 firing at ground targets. Since then, he asked every time he was here: When will you make one for me? So I did. Burrrrt!

My 30x173mm practice round. Disarmed of course.

I was contractor on Edwards air force base when 3 of these guys were practicing.  Wow !

I like to use contrasting wood when I can. The nacelles and fuselage are poplar, believe it or not. The dark wood on the horizontal stabilizer is walnut. The wings and vertical stabilizers are ipe. The wheels are birch.

I have a friend that sends me dark wood cutoffs from his larger projects that he can't use.
