Barb, I used one of these in my early days of woodworking before I acquired more machines (and space).  One very important thing before you start using it is to make sure your drill press table is dead flat perpendicular to the drill press spindle.  Otherwise you will be shaving the wood off with just one edge.

I have not considered something like this.  At this point, I only have a 4' "bench" in my shop.  Currently it is holding my air compressor for the airbrush.  I guess before I get around to buying anymore tool, I really need to redesign the space and build a longer bench.
