If you don't have any keywords in your product description's you might want to add some. Etsy announced it is now scanning descriptions for keywords... They've been making changes to the searches and testing things since basically the beginning of the year so if you've had low views / sales or even high views but low sales it's probably because of their experiments.

I may add more to this later, I got to get my orders packaged before the mail goes, LOL.. just wanted to get this out there to those that may not have heard of this yet.

I saw that announcement and thought it was strange.  Who would you NOT use the keywords for your product to describe your product??  Seems like the obvious thing to do anyway.

I agree Jim!

I also agree with you Jim, that said I do see when I search out other scroll sawn stuff on there many folks just put a weak title and the description really only says the size and what finish or just other very minimal details and never really mention "again" of what the item is etc. Etsy used to sort of frown upon using lengthy descriptions but Google did.. I've always tried pleasing google instead of etsy.. more people find my shop through google searches than on etsy itself.

Amazon for instance requires very minimal and direct titles and descriptions.. there are other sites that way as well. Lot's of folks load up the title with only keywords or at the end of a somewhat structured title they load up with keywords.. Etsy used to like that but google didn't..

I have always tried to just make sense of my sentences etc. rather than load it full of mumbled up keywords etc. I've never really followed the so called rules of what I call " their logic " and just did my own thing.

The first few words in my title are generic descriptions followed by details and a bit of something at the end that helps find the listing.

I used to do detailed descriptions until I learned that Etsy search didn't search the description. After I read the Etsy announcement, I discovered that I had refined my tags to the point where there wasn't much I could add to the description that I did not already have somewhere in the listing. I will keep it in mind, but I am not going out of my way to create something new for this. I do not believe it will affect my shop or how I do things.
