Lighthouse

Finally got these finished in time for my sale on Thursday.  Framed with cheap frames because I have no idea how to make frames! lol!  Colour is just scrap booking paper taped to the back.  The wood is craft mdf plywood from KJP Select Hardwoods.

How did you apply the red  color?   You might want to try the ADDING COLOR TO SCROLLING method????  Travis added instructions.

John,  I just cut some scrap book paper (card stock) to fit the spaces.  The rest is a dark blue.  I have read your article in adding colour and will give it a try on another project.

Beautiful pieces, Barb. Love the grain. Looks like you stack cut but with the way the grain matches it would have been nice to have a different lighthouse on one so you could have sold them as a pair.

I did stack cut.  I am not a fan of the material I used.  There was a fair bit of breakout on the back side.

Love the front side and how you accented the colours.  Looks fantastic.

Now you tell me about the material.  LOL I just received from KPJ the sample pack plus 4 sheets of white oak and have no idea what I am going to do with them.  This does give me ideas.

Don,  It isn't all that bad to cut.  I probably should have used different blades.  I find the open "sides" difficult to finish.  I typically dip in Tung Oil and it doesn't finish the edges very well.  I should probably be putting a sealer on first but it is hard on a fret work piece.
