Dak0ta52 Posted June 5, 2022 Report Posted June 5, 2022 I mentioned in another thread that today was supposed to be my first ever show. It was actually a community yard sale and I live in a very rural location (very low traffic). Understand that I don't have a lot of inventory. I'm still working a full-time job and scroll when I have time between chores around the farm. Anyway, my first customer broke the ice purchasing 3 items. Other customers filtered through for the next couple hours. Things died out around 9:30 and from then on it was more gossiping with the neighbors than making sells. What's nice is the number of commissions I received. By the time I finished the commissions I will have tripled the amount I made at the "Show." The owner of the property we were using is a food vender and said there is a huge trail (horse) ride Labor Day weekend in a small town about 70 miles away. He asked that I focus my inventory on Western and horse items adding that the type of customers who attend the ride would probably buy me out. Guess what I'll be cutting for a while. While "shows" really aren't my thing, it is nice to find customers who are willing to pay what I felt my pieces were worth. I may display at another one or two throughout the year, but it definitely won't be a weekly thing. Mainly because I don't have the inventory and with my job, I really don't have the time to make the inventory for multiple shows every month. For you scrollers who do this on a weekly basis, I commend you. It takes a lot of work, not only setting up and breaking down, but also creating you inventory. John B and GrampaJim 2 Quote
John B Posted June 5, 2022 Report Posted June 5, 2022 Good ONYA Rodney for taking part in your 1st "show". I like to do markets once a month, but unfortunately, this has not been happening for about 12 months now. I think I have done 3 or 4 in that time A month gives me time to, take my time, and cut without "having to" (the same reason I no longer do custom orders). Dak0ta52 1 Quote
