When I worked in the truck shop, there were numerous vehicles that would come in and 10 to 15 tasks to get them back to legal

Now, each task could have been something as simple as light bulb under "electrical" or it could have been a partial rewire of the cab.

Most common seemed to be brakes and exhaust.

You see all the treads lying along the roads, I have always wondered why that was a cause of more accidents.  We were follow a truck once when a tread came off and it was very scary.  The thing flew right at our car.  We had to swerve to miss it.  We were doing over 60 the big piece of tread was probably traveling faster, if it had hit the windshield, I I am sure it would have gone right through it.
