Thank you meflick, I think the box itself may be cherry, not sure about the lid. It came from a box of offcuts that someone gave me.

It was a box that got me  interested in scrolling as I always thought scrolling was an outline of a cat or a simple heart cutout and it just did not appeal to me.  This is a very nice little box and you deserve to be happy with this project. Keep up the good work

That looks great. The top almost looks like Cedar. I like to make something like that for my granddaughter. Where did you get the plans from.

Thank you, the plans are from a book I purchased from Amazon called "Box-Making Projects for the Scroll Saw" by Gary Mackay.
