I went to a local wood store this morning because I was passing by.  Don't get there much, but the owner is real talkative, nice guy, just talks too darn much.  He also builds custom furnisher and sells unfinshed furnisher. He says the unfinished furnisher business is all but dead, so he is expanding his wood selling.  He had thousands of cut-off of all different kinds of wood.  An intarsia persons paradise.  I spent almost an hour just walking around him talking all the time. I really was overwhelmed.  I will be going back long before I look on the internet or order over the internet.  He will probably have some of what I want.  This piece did catch my eye and once I picked it up I did not put it down.  Asked him how much, and after he showed me plans of a chest he was building and telling me who it was for, he look at the piece. and said he really should no sell it, but he was getting more in because he needed for the chest he was building,  But he said he usually asks $4 for a piece like that,  3/4" x 11" x 24".  I don't feel the least bit cheated...I think I will make many more trips to his store, with ear plugs...

Paul, is that in the Tricities?  Sorry to hear he talked your ear off but you really did get a good deal for that beautiful piece of what looks like Blue Pine.  Great find!

Yes it is in Kennewick, the old part, Called White's Unfinished Furnisher: https://whiteshardwood.com. Nice guy good prices.  Has a show every year in front of his store, where any wood worker can set up, show and sale,   Having a hard time getting  people to show.  Sept 23 is the next one.
